People have compared Liam Gallagher to a 'roast chicken at Christmas' as he takes centre stage in another Manchester mural - this time taking over the wall of a chip shop.

Last month, the Oasis frontman was revealed to be at the centre of a piece of street art in Ancoats which was to tie into a campaign with fashion brand Berghaus. Now, he is fronting a second mural in the city.

As part of a partnership with Stone Island, Liam can now be seen in artwork situated above a chip shop overlooking the Etihad Stadium - the home of his beloved Manchester City FC.

The mural, above the Maine Road Chippy on Ashton New Road, features Liam in an oversized Glass Cover hooded parka. The biscuit-coloured outfit, which has an 'under glass' effect, retails at £2,145. And people online didn't waste any time in letting their thoughts known on the item of clothing too.

One person said: "i thought it was a priest from far away lmao." Another added: "He looks a bit like a roast chicken at Christmas." Similarly, another asked: "Will he be cooked and ready for Xmas?". One other person added: "Reminds me, I need to get some foil." Keeping with the theme, another just said: "Quality Street".

Another said it looked like it had been taken 'off the emersion heater', whilst another thanked Liam for reminding them that 'the boiler needs servicing'. Others also felt it had a bit of an intergalactic theme too. "Look like you are in the Star Wars cast mate, but I bet it's warm," one commented. One person simply said: "1970s space man coat."

Sharing their thoughts, one other simply said: "Not sure about that coat LG." Another similarly stated: "Not even Liam can make that parka look good!"

Based on a photo taken by British fashion photographer David Sims, the artwork is accompanied by Liam’s answer to a question as part of Stone Island’s ‘Community as a Form of Research’ project. Asked what his favourite city in the world is, he simply replies: "Manchester City and Manchester the city."

On social media, people also couldn’t help but also make cheeky references to the fact the singer is ‘taking over’ the city. One person jokingly posted: “I've never been to Manchester. If I visit, I'll imagine Mr. Liam Gallagher selling Fish & Chips.” Another wrote: “Liam Gallagher OMNIPRESENT AS ALWAYS.” One other posted: “He is just gradually taking over.”

Another person even chimed in to suggest the chip shop where the mural is located took the opportunity to cash in on the exposure. One suggested: “The chippy with the Liam Gallagher Stone Island poster/mural on outside the Etihad needs to change its name to the 'Mad Filet-O-Fish'.”

Keeping with the chip shop puns, another said: “You’ve got a bread roll with it?” One other commented: “Cods the story morning glory.”
