Police have issued an appeal after a man died following an attack in Wigan. Officers believe two men were assaulted in the Scot Lane area at around 5pm last Wednesday (November 6). It is believed they were attacked by three other males.

One of the victims of the attack has since tragically died. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said today 'it is not known at this stage whether injuries from the assault are directly linked to his death'.

No further details on the victim have been released yet. As part of the appeal, police said they now want to speak to anyone who saw 'men with baseball bats' in the Scot Lane area at the time of the attack.

Officers also want to speak to anyone who has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage that could help their investigation. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers in Wigan are appealing for information following a serious assault of two men.

"At around 5pm on Wednesday 6 November, two men were assaulted by three other males in the area of Scot Lane. One of the male victims sadly died but it is not known at this stage whether injuries from the assault are directly linked to his death.

"Officers are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward and assist their investigation, particularly anyone who saw men with baseball bats in the area of Scot Lane around this time."
