A guitar owned by Noel Gallagher will be auctioned off to help the fight to save Salford Lads and Girls Club.

The autographed Cherry Hofner Verythin was used during his time with Oasis for studio recordings. With an estimate of £4,000 to £8,000, bidding will end on Friday November 15.

It is hoped 20 percent of the total selling price will go the the club which needs to raise £250,000 before the end of this month to stay open.

Meanwhile an exhibition of Oasis memorabilia and a record fair to be staged at the club on November 23 and 24 is set to raise thousands of pounds. A similar exhibition in June was deemed a massive success by organisers.

Kyle Dale, Director of Bittersweet Home says: "We had an incredible time at Salford Lads Club back in June with Together We'll Fly selling out across the days there. Knowing we provided the club with their highest ever donation generating weekend was really special to hear.

"So when they asked me to come back and help save the club it was a no brainer. With only two weeks to prepare we love a challenge! Tickets are on sale for the Tony McCarroll Q&A now and I'm working on filling the two days with local talent and more Manchester Royalty.

"There will be an incredible amount of Manchester Music Memorabilia on show too from The Smiths, Oasis, Courteeners and Stone Roses which will be open to the public throughout the days, no ticket needed for this but an encouraged £10 donation on the way in to the room."

This 2008 Verythin Standard CT guitar comprises a maple neck, a rosewood fretboard and a maple body finished in a transparent cherry red. It features the Hofner logo as a pearlescent inlay on the headstock, with two pickups, two volume knobs, two tone knobs, and a selector switch. The serial number "J0042-0083" is printed on a label located within the hollow body, and the back of the headstock is autographed in silver-coloured ink by Gallagher.

Sue Binder, Head of Finance, at the Lads Club, said: “Now that we’re so close to the first target of £250k to keep the club going in the immediate term, we’re really excited to share our plans for a Salford Lads and Girls Club Legacy Fund, which will help the club stay sustainable long term.

"The legacy fund is a permanent investment fund which will never be spent - instead, interest made on the saved funds will be drawn down each year, going a long way to close the perennial gap between income and costs of keeping this fantastic and unique youth club in operation. Donations made to the legacy fund will last forever. Once we’ve achieved the urgent £250k, anything over this will go into the legacy fund. Initial target for the fund to see worthwhile interest returns is £1m.”

Louise Adams – Salford Lads Club Trustee and Lead Volunteer for Events, said:" We’re delighted to welcome Kyle back to the club after the brilliant Oasis exhibition in June which was our biggest fundraising weekend to date, attracting 2,000 visitors. This next exhibition features memorabilia from a range of well known bands - again recognising the club’s wide cultural reach. There’ll be some associated special guests too! Am so proud of our Events Volunteer team who work so hard, we could not put these crucial fundraising events on without them. “

The Manchester Evening News has sponsored a gofundme page to help raise money for the Lads Club and so far £225,000 has been raised with donations of £55,000 from Morrissey and £100,000 from Salford council.
