A woman has sadly died after a fire broke out at a house in Middleton.
The blaze broke out at the home on Roundthorn Road at around 4.20am yesterday morning (Sunday, November 10). Fire crews, police officers and paramedics descended on the scene. Five fire engines responded, a spokesperson for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said. Tragically, the woman - aged in her 30s - was found dead inside the house.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed an investigation into the blaze is now underway. The force spokesperson said: "At 4:22am Sunday morning (November 10) we were called to reports of a fire at a house on Roundthorn Road, Middleton.

"Emergency services attended, and sadly a woman in her 30s was found inside the house deceased. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances."
In a statement issued on Sunday evening, Area Manager Lee Coleman, from GMFRS, said: "At around 4.20am this morning (Sunday 10 November), five fire engines from Middleton, Chadderton, Blackley, Phillips Park and Manchester Central fire stations attended a house fire on Roundthorn Road, Middleton.
"Crews wearing breathing apparatus arrived quickly and used four hose reel jets and one nine-metre ladder to extinguish the fire. Firefighters remain at the scene."
