It's well-known for going big at Christmas, and the festivities are now in full swing at Bents garden centre.

The arrival of Father Christmas with a Festive Tractor Parade on Thursday evening kickstarted the festive season at the venue, which transforms into a winter wonderland each year. With trees and decorations galore, the place, off the East Lancs Road in Glazebury, near Wigan, is packed with inspiration for people's homes and attracts crowds of visitors between now and the big day.

There's a different theme at every turn, as well as twinkling lights, Christmas model villages and props dotted about the store - including a Grinch seat, a sleigh, an ice cream parlour - for those photo opportunities throughout your visit.

But there's lots more to see and do there too, including a Winter Food Market in the giant Open Skies Glasshouse, selling Bratwurst sausages, Yorkshire pudding wraps, crepes and more, as well as other dining options such as The Fresh Approach Restaurant.

If you're wrapping up, you can even sit outside next to the outdoor play area or in the shadows of the dinosaurs at the Jurassic Cove Café next to the adventure golf course. Its events like Festive Breakfast and Festive Tea with Father Christmas are always popular, there are Tiny Tots Christmas Parties, free Festive Wednesdays, a Christmas Wreath Making Masterclass and a whole lot more.

Parents with little ones are encouraged to take them along for the Little Face of Christmas competition, where free mini photoshoots are taking place every weekend from November 9 to December 15, between 11am and 4pm. Photos will be uploaded to Facebook for families to share with loved ones and there's the chance to win prizes.

There's no Santa's Grotto at Bents, but you will find him wandering around at certain times and he'll happily pose for photos. He's just one of many reasons to take a trip there this Christmas. You can check out the full list of events on the Bents website.
