A woman had to be rescued from a burning house near Bolton on Bonfire Night after fireworks were launched at her home in a horror arson attack.

A group of suspects had been seen throwing lit fireworks into the property on Lower Meadow, Turton, at around 10.30pm on Tuesday (November 5).

A 'significant fire' erupted and spread through the ground floor of the home as emergency crews attended the incident. The woman, aged in her 60s, was rescued by fire crews.

Three suspects, all males, were then seen to get into a car and flee the scene. One of the suspects is described as 6ft, slim, clean shaven, with mousey brown mid-length hair.

Lancashire Police have now issued a public appeal as part of investigations into the incident, which is being treated as an arson attack.

A force spokesperson said in a statement: "Our officers were called at 10.31pm yesterday (5th November) to an address in Lower Meadow, Turton, to a report of arson.

"Three males were reported to have been seen throwing lit fireworks into the property which caused a significant fire. They were then seen to get into a car and leave the scene.

"A woman in her 60s had to be rescued from the house by the Fire Service and was taken to hospital for treatment. One of the suspects is described as 6ft, slim, clean shaven, with mousey brown mid-length hair."

A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "On 5th November 2024 at 22:37, four fire engines from Ramsbottom, Bolton Central, Farnworth, and Rawtenstall attended an incident on Lower Meadow, Bolton. The fire involved the ground floor of a domestic property. One casualty was rescued by fire service personnel."
